welllll, Pooney (formerly known as rooney, yea the band) is coming to my campus to preform a free show. 1. hahahahhahahhahahahha 2. I love how they wait until I no longer care about them and am about to graduate and leave forever 3. wow, they totally are not good anymore 4. I have every right to make that claim from being a former creeptastic fan. 5. and yess their name is now pooney cause they are POO.
6. oh yea, and matt left the band?? and obv tay has a new band I THINK THAT'S A SIGN 7. no musical evolution, NONE. craptastic voyage "thaaats craptassstic!"
what should I do?? well OBVIOUSLY ... I am going to get drunk, perhaps incredibly drunk, probably not since I do have bloody class the next day... annnnnd yell slanderous things at them. mwahahaha and yes, I'm bringing my gang members to help along with the drinking and slander
EDIT: oh yea, going drunk and being the person I hated so much at shows (the drunken crazy) yea that was me. it was GREATTTTTTTTTTTTT it's not like anyone paid to see the show anyway so I technically could have stumbled upon the show drunk anyway. totally awesome lovely photos we thought were a fantastic idea by erin (and sometimes me): and they get more ridiculous as you go down.
I obviously can not have a good, non-ridiculous face in pictures, ever
When I came back to London from italy, Amanda and I had to top up our oysters and I needed to give her some stuff she put in my bag that I checked. Just as I was moving to an area that wasn't busy and out of the way so I could open my bag, I accidently ran into a tfl man and he said "Oh. I'm sorry love." I love england. :D
Yea, thats a lot of bands. and the two I wanted to see were the first and the last, of course.
okok, took place at brixton academy (same place I saw BOOSH haha) I went by myself cause what the hell, I don't really care anymore.
Waiting out in the line seriously felt like waiting in line to get into the 930 club in dc. The building was all tattered next to the academy, but then again it is south london. There was this old lady a few people in front of me smoking a joint with her scraggly looking friend. There was a semi cute lad near the old bird, he had plaid on so of course I noticed, haha. But im prettttty sure he was a youngin. A lot of the people were. I was in front of this group of guys who was talking about his ticket and it had his mums name on it cause she was the cardholder. haha, lordy. barely legal guys. I ended up being in the ticket holders only line of course, cause I had to pick mine up, which was excellent cause the line was much much shorter. Oh yea and on the way just as I was leaving the underground to go to the venue, I guess some people on the streets were trying to find some weird donor for some charitable cause or whatever, I dunno. But some guy stopped me but I wasn't staying long term so he couldn't bug me, but we ended up talking about kings of leon and kaiser chiefs and he said he liked my look. I felt happy since I was wearing my new bowlers hat from TOPSHOPPPP. I'm going to miss that store. But I'm definitely coming back in a year and half time for grad school then living my days out in Londontown. Alright back to the show. I went to the top tier since I didn't want to get raped by the drunkies once more people had showed up or have my hat squished or stolen. So I got to sit and watch a show, very convenient. I have to say that this is probably the best pre-show and in between set music I've heard. I love england, so fantastic. They didn't play one shit song. They had the killers, strokes, the streets, the smiths, aerosmith/run dmc mix, kaiser chiefs(hah), kings of leon, white stripes, arctic monkeys, the beatles, razorlight, the kinks. I can't remember what else, but it was GOOD.
SOOO GOOOD but I also knew what I was getting into, cause I went to see them. They're gonna be mega-huge. all of their songs, well the ones I've heard, are definitely anthem worthy for next summer's festivals. seriously CHECK THEM OUT
heres a music video to give you a taste:
yea, pretty bloody fantastic, eh? I thought I had a little fancy for the drummer, but I facebook stalked him and found out he has a lady but I think i'm just more in love with the actual drumming. ALSO, I looked at his facebook ermm an hour ago, to see if he posts anything white lies related, and I noticed he was tagged in a photo, it was MY picture I had posted on their page on facebook. HAAAAA. Charles (bass) took it and made an album of it and tagged the band in it. yessss, if only I had contact with them without being a creeper. ok yes. amazing amazing amazing amazing amazing band.
she must have stepped right out of the 80's I had heard her song "Paris Is Burning" (very catchy) somewhere but no idea where exactly. Very electro 80's. I liked her, but I couldn't listen to her all the time.
the song I came out liking was "Dusk till Dawn" and you can hear her kiwi accent too. I always like that.
'ere it is:
I had known about her about a year prior but never fully listened to her. she is crazzyyy, but good crazy. Very energetic. loved it. Her style is a bit wonky and 80s with the red leopard skin jeans. haha, but that's me since I've been influenced by England and wearing all black or dark colors. she was definitely my favorite other than white lies and the chiefs. check out "better when youre naked"
ewewewew EW EW The only american "band" all white boys, two rapping nooooo no no! the only catchy song is "this city" thats because it has minimal white boy rapping in it one of the lead rappers, or whatever, has long thin gross white trash hair, at least schwayze's lead singer (damn I know his name- can't remember!) has some wave to his hair and schwayze is actually good. I disapprove.
eh. boring. and the lead singer looked like ( from the top tier) a love child between tom green and noel gallagher. ALTHOUGH he was left handed, so that gained some points from me. yea. can't remember much of their songs except they did play "winter wonderland" so cuteeeeeeee
yes yes yesssssss ricky was off his face, which made it even more amazing. it was my first time FINALLY seeing them live since I have been a fan since employment, back in the good ol' days hmm what to say first ricky climbed on top of a huge set of amps, then later he went into the crowd (bad bad idea) and had one of his shoes stolen, but threw it back into the crowd anyway and then the the other shoe just for the hell of it. Apparently the show was live in the radio so he asked everyone in the audience to scream profanities at the same time, it was excellent, but I didn't do it cause I was sitting next to a sodding family. danggggg ittttt, haha
I went by myself (again) so, it wasn't as fun as it could have been, but whatever, I SAW A STROKE.
The opening band, Helsinki, I believe, was alright. and luckily, they were the only opener and didn't wait long for them to get one and finish. They played Spooky Couch as an intro, but I swear they played the whole thing (its seriously seven minutes long) Then him and the band came out AFTER it was over. He played all the typical songs, but he came out later than was written on the schedule, so I thought he had time to play all the songs from the first album at least, but nooo. He didn't even play Hard To Live In The City, or my favvvv Cartoon Music For Superheroes (hence my blog http thing - cartoonmusic) I mean, he played a good show but it could have been longer. And he did say that this was his last show for a long time (strokes comeback??? I HOPE SO!!!!!)
what about little fabrizio? he hasn't eaten in three hours!!
yes, it is a television show, a great one at that. There is some music, such as in the theme song, but this post has nothing to do with rock and roll adventures. you don't like? stuff it.
well well well. This was a fantastic amazing bloody awesome time, even though I went by myself. A few months ago I heard that they were going to be filming the third series and knowing that I would be in London, i freaked and jumped on the chance. I finally got the email saying I had tickets to the October 3 show about a week before. YESSSSSS ok so anyway. It was on Friday. I left around 1520 (doors opened to the studios at 1900) I left that early because of the travel time and I had to make a quick stop at waterstones for a book they ended up not having anyway. ugh. Yea, the travel time. took a bit of time. I had to take the metropolitan line allllll the way to the end at uxbridge. yes, I willingly went alone to zone 6. totally worth the 4 quid though. I did a bit of reading for my sex and nakedness french class for monday, but the line was above ground so I could actually see the suburbs of london. Quite quaint, and a bit like bend it like beckham housing. hahaa. ok so once I arrived at the station, I became an idiot I walked out the wrong entrance and went to the high street looking for a cab and asking people what train went to pinewood studios (yes the same studios bond is shot at and many johnny depp/tim burton collabs) Anyway I finally found the proper bus but it took bloody foreverrrr to come and I didn't know which stop I needed to get off at (I didn't bring any sort of information on how to actually get to the studios since I assumed I would take a cab, but the bus IS cheaper. whatevs) I ended up following these two people to the station since they had a map and they were going to the taping of the show as well. As in typical London fashion, they didn't care to talk to me or be like "heyyy you like the it crowd too? oh cool." NOPE. none of that shizz. well we got our little wristbands and hung out in this tent. oh by the way it was COLD that day. about 45 degrees fahrenheit. I so wanted to be a tourist and take a picture of the pinewood studios sign or the massive bond studio next to the tiny little it crowd one. butttt I didn't. I apparently was in the last half of people coming in and kind of almost didn't get a seat, but not really, since I was alone and single seats were almost open (hence me getting into the second row right on the end where all the lush stars could see me haaa.) So as I was sitting there in my awesome ass seat, I was FREAKIN OUT. I mean, the office set with moss' and roy's desk and all their goodies were riiiht there and I was in between that set and Douglas' office set. omggggg so amazingggggg. There was this guy to keep us "entertained" between takes and breaks etc. He was alright. He got a few laughs from me, but towards the end, he was annoying me. Anywayyy it took a bit of time for Roy, Jen, Moss, and Douglas (I'm going to be using their characters names cause its easier) to come out. But when they did oh it was fabulous. The entertainment bloke, stewart, was seeing what the audience was made of: talking to students and people from different countries (he didn't hear me scream 'america' but he did eventually get to me) seeing if there were any birthdays, etc. As they were setting up for the first scene (they did them in chronological order of the show, which was excellenttt) he was asking the audience to practice their cheers and when it was weak, he said to cheer like americans cheer for war. now after he did this he asked if there were any americans in the audience and I, being the ONLY one in the audience, raised my hand. At this time Jen and Roy were there, about 20 feet away looking at me as I was being embarrassed by stewart. They played the theme song on the screens above and I seriously got chills. Oh man, it was so surreal being there. They were brilliant. And Matt Berry seriously stole that whole episode. Seeing Moss in action was gahh. I seriously think Richard and Moss are half-and-half of one another. I also caught Moss and Douglas looking at me a few times, I'm thinking it was because of my glasses, I think they reflect some light off of the lenses and it catches people's eyes. I was in between two mics to catch the laugh so I don't believe I'll hear my annoying annoying (to my ears) laugh. There was a quiz to win a signed piece of the set from series one, but I didn't win. I barely raised my hands for the answers, but I was still answering them in my head. There also was a sing off of the 'new' emergency number. I laughed cause it was brought up in the episode that was being taped. Hilariiiious. I'm not going to say anymore about the episode. But when I was waiting outside (some group of girls were nice enough to let me share a cab with them since we were all going to uxbridge station) there was a window and you could see the after show party. I saw Richard wearing his bright orange shirt he had on when he came out with the cast to say goodbye and his hair was all messed up, out of moss' part. Also in the line of cabs waiting, the second one, said Matt Berry's cab and the driver was zonked out. It would be nice to secretly sneak in. I mean, it's matt berry! It was another good evening. On the way home I listened to some albert hammond, jr. to help me prepare for his show that sunday and then on saturday I watched In Transit. "hello ze strokeeeees"
So, I was sifting though the myspace bulletins and I saw this band, The Mood, who I occasionally listen to and I noticed they were coming to London. Out of the blue, I just decided 'what the hell' and I asked them if they needed some help selling their shizz. (they're not that popular yet, so it's a good way to meet people) Marco sent me a message and was totally all for it. I haven't really listened to them that much, (I only am now cause I have their cds finally) but they're good. They're fantastic people, but actually I think some of their songs are missing that *punch* on the cds. Live, they're totally bad-ass and awesome and full of energy, but the cds seem to lack that (i'm not hating, because I love them). I really had no idea what to expect, besides the typical knowing how to sell merch. The venue, The 100 Club, is right off of oxford street, in this tiny little entrance between two huge typical department stores. it's a typical venue, with the bar filled with people in between sets of bands. I met up with them and they were super thankful and during their set they even gave me a shout out (ahem, unlike the other band I merch for who seem ungrateful.) We went to Marco's brother-in-law's (Sam) flat afterwards and just chilled and finally got to brush up on my football (soccer) skills. Jeremy, Sam's flatmate was filming the show and made me do an awkward merchandise dance, haha. I didn't have any drinks up till the end of the night (even though I got offered multiple times, finally! haha.) It was nice that they're american too, so I knew pretty much how they'd act (since I know british bands are a bit more crazzzzzzy after shows.) Basically, you should hang out with them any chance you get.
ok, if you're ever in London or if they ever make it over to the states (doubtful, but if the boosh come, they will follow) you gotta go. total girl power show to the max haha.
It was free cover (yessss) but amanda and I payed mmm about 15 dollars for two drinks (each.) we walked around forever trying to find Cargo round shoreditch. We walked forever (well maybe it wasn't forever but I was in heels, and had been all day, so it hurt) But while I was waiting for her at liverpool station, I saw THE MOST BEAUTIFUL man ever. I swear he was a model, but he looked at me too, maybe there was just something on my face, but holy shitee. You must go to shoreditch, so many good looking young guys, too bad they don't ever talk to you (except Robby(ie), but I'll come back to him) When we got there, we didn't really know what to do (oh right the doors opened at 7 but we stopped for some chicken curry at this deserted little restaurant but before that, we asked some sales lady in some store where cargo was and she LIED, she said it was down the street right before the petrol station. ohh noo, we had to ask eric the security guard inside the petrol station and it was about two more blocks down the road.) we went outside (there was a 'garden' in the place), stood there for about 2 seconds and said let's go get drinks. so we went and we got some cider drink for about 3-350 quid and some dude just steps in front of me and gets his drink and says "oh sorry were you waiting?" and this, this boy was robbie. how did we know his name? by stalking him near the bar and hearing his friend call his name. he actually was sitting at the table next to us, wearing his ski cap with the little ball at the end. he eventually left and we finished our drinks and hesitantly decided to get one more, we saw on the menu this one with 7% alcohol, the highest on the menu and decided that would be our last drink. again, it took forrreverrrr to get served cause there was a newbie bartender who completely ignored us and we were right in front of the cashier. we sat inside this time, where we stalked out robbie since he was standing near us and sitting at the same area as we were. then, ohh boyyy, then he brings this plate of empty crisps or something and says "you girls look hungry" and plops down the plate between us. we just look at each other and go 'oohhh robbie' I was turned off at this moment but amanda still thought he was cute, he did have the jew-like nose and the dark wavy jew-looking-fro peaking out beneath his ski cap. it took us forever to finish our drinks and we were stalking out the nice comfy looking booth things in one corner of the bar. there were some mighty fine cuties in the place and Sue was even chatting with some people for an hour or so (pretty cool to see, since in america, no one does that) we sat down, but had seen some creepy guy with a pony tail from earlier sitting with his friends at the table next to us (who happened to be kat von d's exhusband, oliver peck) and amanda said he was oogling me, haha. I didn't see that cause I was trying to finish my drink in time for the show. The openers started, and i knew that they were fucking insane cause of what I saw on myspace and yea, they were that weird. But Sue was rocking out to them, they were a little too, strange, for my taste. Robots came on and Amanda and I positioned ourselves on one of the sides of the stage, right in front. But before that, we saw robbie taking pictures of the previous band and he even squeezed in a little myspace picture too. and during r.i.d.'s show, mr ex decided to peek in and walk right behind us, how convenient. too bad I don't know THAT many of their songs, but they're still awesome. my feet hurt like a motherbitch at the end and I probably looked like an asian girl wearing heels for the first time. I digress. we had to ask some (more) cuties where the station was to get home, since we didnt run into the roundabout the guy said where the station was. ah, a good night.
